The Cavern - an introduction

The Cavern is the most famous club in the world!

With this statement in mind it would be very easy for the club to sit back and live off the memories of times gone by. This is definitely not the case as the club is as vibrant and relevant to the latest generation of musicians as in any time in its history. This has been brought about by continuous development and investment to enable it to continue with this bold boast for many years to come.

The club is equipped to a very high standard to enhance both the experience of the audience and also to enable the best environment for the countless bands and musicians who grace our stages. The club has two stages and due to the layout of the venue we can comfortably accommodate two shows simultaneously.

The front stage of the club is set under the famous arches that have provided the iconic images of the Beatles in the early 1960's. This area is now supplemented with a state of the art sound system to guarantee that everyone in the venue can experience fully the first class performance on offer. This area of the club is generally open to the public and has a wide variety of entertainment scheduled on every night of the week and throughout the day on the weekends.

The back room (Big Stage), is the largest area of the club and is used for ticketed gigs and private functions. The sound system is second to none, making the room ideal for signed bands on the touring circuit or our regular unsigned nights. Because of the layout of the room, it has the ability to provide an intimate setting for acoustically based bands but it is also the ideal setting for indie/rock based shows.

Although we have a very deep and proud association with music of the past, our love of live music is very much still alive. The club is not a museum and is definitely not just about the Beatles and our illustrious friends from the sixties. Due to our two stages and broad music policy, we are probably the busiest promoter of original music from up and coming bands in the UK! For proof of this, check out our listings.

The club welcomes contact from bands who would like to play on one of our famous stages. If you would like to be considered, please read the guidelines here.

We also welcome the use of the club for private functions and corporate engagements. This unique and historic setting is fully equipped and staffed for any type of occasion. Click here for details.
