Hamburg Beat

Originally called ‘The Word’, the teenage beat group played a mixture of Hamburg rockers, interspersed with a few well known early Beatles hits. Despite a highly successful period in the early 1980s, the boys decided to concentrate on writing and recording their own original material and over several years recorded and performed their own songs (though always with a few ‘Star Club Tapes’ classics in their set lists !!)

Up to date
In 2012, the group reformed with three original members (Mark, Mac and Phil), joined on stage by Mark’s son Alex, who many people say “looks like Stu, but plays like Macca”. This time around, there were to be no compromises in their set list, with the group focused on faithfully reproducing the raucous rock n roll of the early 60’s Beat Club scene.
Now regularly performing across the UK and overseas as ‘Hamburg Beat’, the group have received rave reviews for their authentic interpretation of a night at The Star Club.

The leather clad Hamburg Beat ‘Mach Schau’ by playing classics such as ‘Besame Mucho’, ‘Lend Me Your Comb’, ‘Hallelujah I Love Her So’, ‘Your Feet’s Too Big’, ‘Red Hot’ and ‘Falling In Love Again’ and many, many more.

The band have taken their Hamburg Sound to festivals in Belgium, Norway and Finland. The band has also appeared a number of times at The Cavern Club, Liverpool and made a successful debut at International Beatleweek, in 2014.

Make sure you “mach schau” with Hamburg Beat !!
