The Bertils

The Bertils are back again! Against all odds! Cavern City Tours needs rotation of bands as well as repertoire, so all bands this year were challenged to play one Beatle or post-Beatle album in full, otherwise it would be a no-no from the Management to play in Beatle week 2015. There was a nomination procedure; the bands would suggest, Cavern would approve/appoint.

The Bertils made three suggestions. Silence. Band leader Kent Adeborn followed up the application and the answer was: “Too many bands wanna play these albums, and The Bertils were not selected”….”Can we try again?”. “OK!”

The band came up with Pauls album “Снова в СССР”, Paul´s Russian album from 1988. This album honours and reflects Pauls musical influences in the early days. It is with mixed feelings we stir in this reminder of the past, says Kent, who remembers the giant blasts of 200 Megatons Nuclear Bombs at Novaya Zemlja, contaminating Sweden with with much higher radiation than the Tjernobyl disaster did.

Additionally, two band members will play acoustic sets during BW, calling themselves Jimmie & Dougie. They will honour the Macca afternoon at the outdoor stage of Alma de Cuba as well as a few “You-decide-it, We-play-it” sessions at Adelphi.

The Bertils nowadays host their own musical events in Gothenburg, Sweden, with guests like Pepperland and Rocks Off (BTW, you have to come back to Beatle Week 2016; Rocks Off will be back). Those events are always sold out, not only for musical reasons, but also because of the very beautiful setting on the west coast of Sweden, including a spectacular sunset over the sea. At the time of writing, next occasion is one month after Beatle Week.

Band members, 2015 edition, are Jimmie Rudolfsson, a dedicated Paul fan, on bass, Douglas Källstedt-Georgsson, on lead guitar, Olle Strååt, drummer (in this band, that is) and Kent Adeborn, rythm guitar (and coordinator, if possible).
