The Calangles Rock Band

Performing in Beatle Week Liverpool for the second year “The Calangles Rock Band” likes to be recognized as a pure and real rock’n’roll band and there are many reasons for so. However, the one that catches attention is: these guys play it loud! Absolutely influenced by THE BEATLES, the members of the group thought about splashing a touch of hard rock on the Fab4 songs. What surely makes that happen is the talent of its musicians to simply let the rock flow, not even avoiding blends with hard rock bands from diverse time and countries. Watching The Calangles playing you can here and there listen to parts of very famous rock songs, mixed up with The Beatles’, what is now pretty famous as “calangles mashups”. The idea is to take you to a different “parallel” land during the shows, where you can both be into the Liverpool guys as well as listening to arrangements thought by other highly known musicians and bands! And it all really happens. Originally from Fortaleza, a city in the Northeast of Brazil, Jessica Abreu (lead vocals) punches out her voice to perform with the band in an electrifying way. Also from this region of their country came up the band’s name, since in Portuguese “calango” is a type of lizard from the dry back lands in Brazil. The other musicians are from Niterói, a super musical city in Rio de Janeiro state, from where several bands have bloomed to the showbiz. To complete this wonderful team Rafael Martins plays the keyboard, Junior Castanheira is in charge with the bass, Marcio Bressan keeps up on his guitar, Rodrigo Bessa also rocks out on his and Rodrigo Machado puts his soul on the drums to show the world they are not kidding on stage! The band was created by these six gifted friends to enjoy their beloved ones from Liverpool the way they like it, although they could never hear like. About two years ago, the band had its start with some rehearsals and soon after the invitations to play at parties and events were already popping up. Some Calangles members are regular visitors of the International Beatle Week Liverpool, so they are all particularly proud to get it on this year again. BE READY TO HARD ROCK ONCE MORE LIVERPOOL!
