The Tefeatles

It all started when Carlos Tefel (also known by his stage name Chaz Rollazz) pitched the band idea to his uncle Jake Tefel whom had been playing guitar and bass for many years. When we realized that we had a family full of musicians, we decided to give it a go as a tribute band for the only music group that we could all relate to… The Beatles! Soon, some of our friends (which we consider to be members of our family as well) also joined up to complete the band. It was our drummer JP’s idea to mix our family name with The Beatles’ band name, thus becoming The Tefeatles.

Our initial gigs were dedicated only to private events such as weddings and birthdays. Later on we decided to take it a bit further, so we hit the recording studio and in 2010 our first Beatle tribute album came out. We called it “Transcending the Age of Time”. An excerpt from our album cover explains this title:

“Transcending the age of time, the distance in geography and the diversity of cultures, The Beatles’ immortal music still resonates amongst new generations.

The Tefeatles, a Guatemalan band formed in 2009 which is comprised of members of the Tefel family (hence the band name Tef-eatles) and friends of various generations, confirms the otherworldly musical mastery of The Beatles. With our instruments and voices we humbly pay homage to those four great musicians whose sonorous fruits continue to amuse us, delight us, and to make us want to dream.”

We gave away copies of this album as gifts to a couple of people and uploaded the tunes in our REVERBNATION page (www.reverbnation.com/tefeatles) and slowly but surely, our band name began to resonate around town. Soon we were receiving requests to play gigs in clubs and charity events, but our ultimate dream had always been to be the very first Guatemalan band to play at Beatle Week in Liverpool. The year 2012 came and for the first time, a Guatemalan band had been chosen to play Beatle Week!

Something grand happened to The Tefeatles on the 1st of May 2014 at the Estadio Nacional of Costa Rica. We had the great honor and privilege to take the stage and sing “Get Back” with a living Beatle… Sir Paul McCartney. For The Tefeatles, that experience was epic and unparalleled. Chaz speaks of the event saying, “It is something special that we carry in our hearts to share with our dear audience whenever we go on stage”.
